Yup :). I've heard stories like that too. Also heard we have equipment that
can hear a human heartbeat from two km away. But I have not seen anything
that was really that neat. We can fight at night but the equipment I have
seen is bulky and a pain in the butt. But with miniaturization going the way
that it is, who knows??? I must point out I'm not currently in a combat unit
so my exposure to current state of the art and practice is somewhat limited.

IR is a big concern. According to the rumor mill you can tell a person's rank
from the pin-holes of heat around the sewing of the patches. I don't have
data to support it, and it might be a bag of BS. But on the other hand, at
least in the AF these patches are being replaced by a velcro name plate like
the pilots wear on their flight suits.

There was an article in our local paper the other day about NASA tracking the
mountain gorillas in Rwanda now that those who were doing so by hand have fled.

This is being done -through- cloud cover....

Makes ya wonder, don't it? -:)
